Myofunctional treatment of anterior openbite with preorthodontic trainer: Report of a case

Abstract

This case report describes the treatment of a 11/2 year-old gid presenting an anterior openbite due to abnormal swallowing habits, tongue thrust and mouth breathing, treated with Preorthodontic Train&TM (T4KTM Myofunctional Research Co, He- 3mm of openbite and 2mm of. overjet as well as a normal profile. The molar and canine relationships were Class I. The patient used the preorthodontic trainer for 8 months to eliminate the mouth breathing and stimulate nose breathing, eliminate the tongue thrust and close the bite. The patient was instructed to use the second for retention during the 1-year period. At eliminated as well as the tongue thrust habit. The Class I relationship was maintained and a stable dentofacial relationship was established. At the follow up period the overbite increased and the treatment results were maintained. Özet

Bu vaka. sunumunda ağız solunumu, dil itme ve anormal yutkunma alışkanlıklarına bağlı olarak ön açık kapanışı olan, Sınıf I iskeletsel özelliklere sahip 11,2 yaşındaki kız çocuğunda myofonksiyonel Preorth odontic Trainer TM (T4KTM Myofunctional Research Co. Helensvale, Avustralya.) apareyi ile tedavi yaklaşımı gösterilmiştir. Sınıf I iskeietse I özelliklere sahip, düz profilli hastada 3 m iti ön açık kapanış ve 2mm overjet mevcuttu. Hastanın molar ve kanin ilişkisi Sınıf I idi. Dil itme alışkanlığını kırmak, burun solunumunu motive etmek ve aynı zamanda ön açık kapanışı düzeltmek için Preorthodontic Trainer apareyi 8 ay kullandırılmıştır.. Tedavi sonunda ön açık kapanışın düzeldiği, dil itme ahşkanngtmn ortadan kalktığı, alt ve üst dişler arasında düzgün bir İnterdi-jitaşyon elde ed iId.iğî ve stabiI bir dento-taşiyal ilişki sağlandığı; retansiyön dönemi sonunda ise elde edilen sonuçların korunduğu ve overbite'ın arttığı görülmüştür.
