Serum lipid profile in pseudoexfoliation syndrome

Abstract

Purpose: To evaluate the serum lipid profile in cases with pseudoexfoliation syndrome. Methods: Fifty - six cases with pseudoexfoliation syndrome diagnosis among patients who have applied to Mersin University Faculty of Medicine Hospital Ophthalmology Clinic between July 2001 - July 2004 were accepted to this prospective study. Twenty-one of the cases were females, 35 of them were males, and the mean age of these were 68.9 ± 12.7 years. Serum total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, Apolipoprotein A, Apolipoprotein B and lipoprotein (a) parameters of the cases were measured. The results were compared with the age matched control group using independent groups t - test. Amaç: Psödoeksfoliasyon sendromlu olgularda serum lipid profilinin değerlendirilmesi.Yöntem: Mersin Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi Göz Hastalıkları polikliniğine Temmuz 2001 - Temmuz 2004 tarihleri arasında başvuran hastalardan psödoeksfoliasyon sendromu saptanan 56 hasta bu prospektif çalışmaya dahil edildi. Yaş ortalaması 68.9 ± 12.7 yıl olan olguların 21'i kadın, 35'i erkek idi. Olgularda serum total kolesterol, HDL, LDL, trigliserid, Apo-lipoprotein A, Apolipoprotein B, lipoprotein (a) parametrelerine bakıldı. Sonuçlar yaş eşlemesi yapılmış kontrol grubuyla bağımsız gruplar t-testi kullanılarak karşılaştırıldı.
