Abstract
Purpose : To examine the effects of phacoemulsification with clear corneal incision on intraocular pressure (IOP) in patient with and without pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PEXS).Methods : IOP changes in 39 eyes with PEX and cataract and in 40 eyes with cataract without PEX prospectively evaluated after phacoemulsification. IOPs were measured preoperatively (preop) and 1 day. 1 week. 1 month. 3 months postoperatively (postop). IOP changes (∆IOP) during the follow up period were calculated as IOP in former minus later examinations (+) values indicates IOP increasement. Results : The mean IOPs were 14.9±3.7 mmHg in eyes with PEX and 14.67±3.2 mmHg without PEX. That was not statistically significant. The mean IOPs were 14.3±5.5 mmHg and 16.2±5.9 mmHg in first postop day. 14.3±4.9 mmHg and 15.1 ±5.11 mmHg in first week. 13.5±3 mmHg and 15.7±5 mmHg first month and 13.5±3.4 mmHg and 14.4±3.6 mmHg 3rd month postoperatively in eyes with PEX and without PEX respectively. The mean IOP changes between preop and postop first day were 0.5 and -1.5 mmHg. between first day and first week were 2.5 and 1.05 mmHg. between first week and first month were 0.7 and -0.5 mmHg. first month and third month were 0.4 and 1.2 mmHg in eyes with and without PEX respectively. The differences were not significant in each period for each group (p>0. 05).Conclusion : Phacoemulsification and IOL implantation had not significant effect on lOPs cases with normal preop IOP with PEX and without PEX.
Özet
Amaç: Pseudoeksfolyasyonu olan ve olmayan olgularda korneal kesili fakoemülsifikasyon cerrahisinin göziçi basıncı´na etkisini incelemek. Materyal-Metod: Katarakt ve pseudoeksfolyasyonu (PEX) olan 39 gözle. PEX´i olmayan kataraktlı 40 gözün fakoemülsifikasyon sonrası GİB´ları prospektif olarak incelendi.
