Photodynamic therapy at retinal capillary hemangioma

Abstract

PURPOSE: To present a patient with retinal capillary hemangioma that was successfully treated with photodynamic therapy (PDT). CASE: 33 year old female patient presented with a loss of visual acuity in her left eye for the last two weeks. Visual acuity of left eye was hand motion. Anterior segment examination is normal in both eyes. Fundus examination of left eye revealed a retinal capillary hemangioma which is about 1500 µ diameter, located in temporally to macula, causing exudation and macular edema. The patient was treated with single session of PDT. Visual acuity improved to 20/200 four weeks after PDT. Visual acuity was 20/20 after eight months. Patient remains stable 24 months following PDT. CONCLUSION: PDT seems effective way of treatment for retinal capillary hemangioma

AMAÇ: Fotodinamik tedavi (FDT) ile başarılı bir şekilde tedavi edilen retina kapiller hemanjiomalı bir vakayı sunmak Vaka Takdimi: 33 yaşında kadın hasta son iki haftadır sol gözde az görme şikâyetiyle başvurdu. Görme keskinliği sol gözde el hareketi seviyesinde idi. Ön segment muayenesi her iki gözde normal olarak değerlendirildi. Fundus muayenesinde sol gözde yaklaşık 1500 µ çapında, maküla temporalinde, eksudasyona ve maküla ödemine sebep olan retina kapiller hemanjiomu tespit edildi. Sağ göz Fundus muayenesi doğaldı. Hasta tek seans FDT ile tedavi edildi. 4 hafta sonraki kontrolünde görme keskinliği 20/200 idi. Sekiz ay sonraki kontrolünde görme keskinliği 20/20’ye ulaştı. 24 aylık takip sonrası nüks izlenmedi. SONUÇ: FDT retina hemanjiomunda etkili bir tedavi metodu olabilir. Anahtar kelimeler: Retinal kapiller hemanjiom, fotodinamik tedavi
