Evaluation of intraocular pressure and central corneal thickness in patients with thyroid ophthalmopathy

Abstract
PURPOSE: We aimed to compare the intraocular pressure (IOP) and central corneal thickness (CCT) measurements among patients with thyroid ophtalmopathy and control groups for the same age distribution. MATERIAL-METHOD: Forty eyes belonging to 20 patients with thyroid ophtalmopathy (Group 1) and 20 patient in control group (Group 2) with same age distrubition were included in this study. IOP, CCT, anterior and posterior segment examination and gonioscopic examination were applied to all patient and measurement were recorded. IOP and CCT measurements were statistically compared between the groups. RESULTS: Mean IOP in Group 1 was 18.2±3.8 mmHg in right eyes and 17.9±4.2 mmHg in left eyes while 13.5±2.2 mmHg and 14.3±2.0 mmHg in right eyes and in left eyes respectively. CCT measurements were 543.7±31.5 µ in right eyes and 546.2±30.7 µ in left eyes in Group 1 and 526.3±29.7 µ and 535.5±23.4 µ in right and left eyes, respectively, in Group 2. AMAÇ: Tiroid oftalmopatili olgularda, benzer yaş dağılımı gösteren kontrol grubuna göre göz içi basıncı (GİB) ve santral korneal kalınlık (SKK) ölçümlerinin karşılaştırılması amaçlandı.MATERYAL-METOD: Tiroid oftalmopati olan 20 olgu (grup 1) ile benzer yaş dağılımı gösteren 20 olgunun (grup 2) 40’ar gözü çalışmaya dahil edildi.
