Ophthalmic needle types and suture materials

Abstract

Needle types and suture materials are basic subjects which every surgeon dealing with ophthalmic surgery should know. Tissue-compatible needle and suture selection as well as careful surgery will have doubtlessly a positive effect on the success. The purpose of this manuscript is to provide a detailed review of needle types and suture materials, as well as of the current developments, and also to make recommendations to the ophthalmic surgeons about appropriate choices of suture and needles. Özet

Oftalmolojide cerrahi ile uğraşan her cerrahın bilmesi gereken en temel konular iğne tipleri ve sütür materyalleridir. Hastayı ameliyat ederken gösterilen özenin yanında cerrahi esnasında kullanılan enstrüman, iğne ve sütür seçiminin dokuya uygun yapılmasının cerrahi başarıyı olumlu yönde etkileyeceği şüphesizdir. Bu derleme iğne tipleri ve sütür materyallerinin ayrıntılı incelenmesini, bunların seçiminde cerraha önerilerde bulunmayı ve güncel gelişmeleri aktarmayı amaçlamıştır.
