Percutaneous placement of the atrial end of a ventriculoatrial shunt

Abstract

The percutaneous placement of ventriculoatrial shunts is easy, fast and minimal invazive procedure. Due to lack of scar formation, it is suitable for revisions and risk of infection is lower. Atrial end of the ventriculoperitoneal shunt was placed using percutaneos technique in two patients in which acute hydrocephalus secondary to aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage was detected. The period of operations were 25 and 30 minutes. There were no peroperative and postoperative complications. In this report, this percutaneous technique was discussed with relevant literature.

Özet

Ventriküloatriyal şant kateterinin distal ucunun perkütan yerleştirilmesi kolay, hızlı ve minimal invaziv bir işlemdir. Skar oluşmaması nedeniyle revizyona uygundur ve enfeksiyon riski daha azdır. Bu yüzden klasik yöntemlere göre daha üstündür. Kliniğimizde anevrizma rüptürü nedeniyle subaraknoid kanama geçiren 2 olgumuzda gelişen akut hidrosefali nedeniyle ventiküloatriyal şant kateterinin atriyal ucu perkütan yolla başarıyla yerleştirildi. İki hastamızın operasyon süreleri 25 ve 30 dakika olarak belirlendi. Peroperatif ve postoperatif komplikasyon görülmedi. Bu çalışmada iki olgumuz nedeniyle, bu yeni teknik literatür eşliğinde tartışıldı.
