Dural Sinus Repair and Anatomy

Abstract

The importance of cerebral venous anatomy and surgical strategies to minimize possible injuries to the cerebral venous system isbetter understood nowadays. The size of the cerebral veins and their connections to each other often involve variations. Therefore, there may be some difficulties in describing the normal anatomical pattern in the anatomical nomenclature and in using thisinformation during surgery. Injuries of major cortical veins or subdural connecting veins can cause serious complications such asvenous infarction, hemiplegia, coma and death. Therefore, it is very important to know the cerebral venous anatomy well and to clarify the connection between pathology and venous system anatomy with the help of neuroradiological investigations during the surgical planning stage in order to minimize venous injury. The aim of this review is to review the anatomy of the dural sinus systemand summarize the techniques that can be used to repair sinus injuries that may occur during surgery.

Serebral venöz anatominin ve serebral venöz sistemde olası yaralanmaları en aza indirgeyecek cerrahi stratejilerin önemi günümüzde daha iyi anlaşılmaktadır. Serebral venlerin büyüklüğü ve birbirleriyle olan bağlantıları sıklıkla varyasyonlar içerir. Bu nedenle normal anatomik paternin tarif edilmesinde, anatomik isimlendirmede ve bu bilgilerin cerrahi esnasında kullanılmasında bazı zorluklar yaşanabilmektedir. Majör kortikal venlerin veya subdural bağlantı venlerinin yaralanmaları venöz enfarkt, hemipleji, koma ve ölüm gibi ciddi komplikasyonlara sebep olabilmektedir. Bu nedenle serebral venöz anatominin iyi bilinmesi ve cerrahi planlama aşamasında nöroradyolojik tetkikler yardımıyla patoloji ve venöz sistem anatomisi arasındaki bağlantının iyi aydınlatılması venöz yaralanmanın en aza indirgenmesi bakımından çok önemlidir. Bu derlemenin amacı dural sinüs sistemi anatomisinin gözden geçirilmesi ve cerrahi esnasında oluşabilecek sinüs yaralanmalarının tamirinde kullanılabilecek tekniklerin özetlenmesidir.
