Rey complex figure test and recognition trial (RCFT) : Norm determination study on Turkish adult sample

Abstract

Scientific background: Rey Complex Figure Test and Recognition Trial (RCFT) is a commonly used neuropsychological measure which assesses visuoconstructive skills and non-verbal memory. Objective: The purpose of this study was to provide normative data for Turkish adults and investigate the influence of age, education and gender variables on the RCFT performance. Material and methods: Data derived from a sample of 198 healthy individuals (age 17-82) coming from six different age and three different education levels. Results: This study revealed significant effects of age and education on most of the RCFT test scores. It also revealed that RCFT performances were not associated with gender. Conclusion: The evaluation criterias for the RCFT scores, which could be used in the clinical trials in our country, is determined with this study.

Özet

Bilimsel zemin: Rey Karmaşık Figür Testi ve Tanıma Uygulaması (RKFT-T), yapılandırma becerisini ve görsel belleği değerlendirmekte kullanılan bir testtir. Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, RKFT-T'nin Türk yetişkin örneklemi için normatif verilerinin toplanması ve test performansına yaş, eğitim ve cinsiyet değişkenlerinin etkisini araştırmaktır. Gereç ve yöntemler: Veriler, 17-82 yaşları arasında, altı farklı yaş ve üç farklı eğitim düzeyinden toplam 198 sağlıklı kişiden elde edilmiştir. Sonuçlar: Birçok RKFT-T test puanının yaş ve eğitim değişkenlerinden etkilendiği, ancak cinsiyetin test performansı üzerinde anlamlı bir etkisi olmadığı bulunmuştur. Yorum: Bu çalışma ile RKFT-T'nin ülkemizdeki klinik çalışmalarda kullanılabilecek değerlendirme kriterleri belirlenmiştir.
