CONNOTATION AND ITS INFLUENCE ON LINGUISTIC COMMUNICATION

Abstract

This research focuses on the connotation which means the opposite of separation between two things. This means the link between the intended meaning and the connotations of the meaning; this impacts delivering the full meaning and thus its effect in the communication between the speaker and the recipient or the addressee. One of the Arabic language features is the usage of connotation to convey the full meaning that the speaker intended to send via fewer words and most charming style; this occurs when the connotation is used. Metonymy and metaphor are based on connotation in order to deliver the meanings and intention of the speaker and to communicate with the addressee with the nicest style. Moreover, the Holy Quran used the connotation in the linguistic communication and delivering the full meaning and the exact intention. This connotation includes implicated meanings within the text. And this is one of the characteristics of the Holy Quran.

Özet

Bu çalışma, iki şey arasında ayrıştırmanın (infikâk) imkansız (mümteni’) olması anlamına gelen lüzûmu ele almaktadır. Lüzûmdan maksat, lafza tayin edilen manayla, bu mananın gerektirdiği (levâzımı) arasındaki irtibattır. Bu (lüzûm), tam mânânın (el-mânâ’l-kâmil) iletilmesine etki eder. Ayrıca lüzûm, mütekellim ile karşısındaki kişi veya muhatap arasındaki iletişime de etki eder. Mütekellimin konuşmasında kast ettiği tam mânânın en az söz ve en güzel bir üslupla iletilmesinde lüzûmun kullanılması, Arap dilinin zâtî özelliklerindendir. Bu dilsel iletişim ise lüzûmun veya iltizâmın delâleti yoluyla olur. Kinaye ve istiâre de ancak lüzûmun, anlamın ve mütekellimin kasdının iletilmesi ve muhatapla en güzel bir üslupla iletişim kurulması üzerine bina olunur. Aynı şekilde Kur’an-ı Kerim dilsel iletişimde, tam mananın ve kasdın ulaştırılmasında lüzûmu kullanır. Ve söz konusu lüzûm, metnin (nassın) içeriğinde (zımnında) bulunan pek çok örtük (matvî) anlamı örtük bir biçimde ifade eder. Bu da Kur’an-ı Kerîm’in husûsiyetlerinden biridir.
