The Theme of Child in the Poetry of Tevfik Fikret in his Earlier Works Before Şermin

Abstract

Tevfik Fikret is a poet who reflected the pessimistic style of expression of the Servet-i Funun (the Wealth of Sciences) literature in his poetry and where his poetry reflected his individual perception. In his poetry besides the individual themes, he also touched social issues. His poetry which was composed after the birth of his son Haluk, the love for children and the struggles of children were given special attenion. In this present study, how Tevfik Fikret expressed his love for children and discussed the struggles of the children in difficult life conditions in his poetry has been analyzed.

Özet

Tevfik Fikret, Servet-i Fünûn Edebiyatının karamsar havasını şiirlerine yansıtmış ve daha çok bireysel duyuş tarzıyla şiirler kaleme almış bir şairdir. Ancak Tevfik Fikret, bireysel temalı şiirlerinin yanı sıra sosyal içerikli şiirler de yazmıştır. Özellikle oğlu Halûk’un doğumundan sonra yazdığı; “çocuk sevgisini” ve “çocukların zor yaşam şartları içindeki mücadelelerini” anlatan şiirleri dikkat çekicidir. Bu çalışmada, Tevfik Fikret’in çocuk konulu şiirleri üzerinde durulmuştur.
