Sevinç Çokum and her four novels

Abstract

Sevinç Çokum is among the cardinal names of contemporary Turkish story and novel. Çokum gained recognition in the world of literature with her stories first and then she produced many novels. In her stories and novels, she dealt with personal, social or historical problems. But in her later novels after 1990 she focuses on different dimensions of the problems. In this study, four of her novels will be analyzed. These are: Ağustos Başağı (1989), Çırpıntılar (1991), Karanlığa Direnen Yıldız (1996), Deli Zamanlar (2000).

Özet

Sevinç Çokum çağdaş Türk hikâye ve romancılığında önemli isimlerden biridir. Önce hikâyeleriyle edebiyat dünyasına girmiş, sonra romanlar meydana getirmiştir. Hikâye ve romanlarında ferdî, sosyal ve tarihî olmak üzere çok çeşitli konu ve meselelere eğilmiştir. Sevinç Çokum’un 1990’dan sonra yazdığı romanlar daha farklı ve çeşitli bir boyuta uzanır. Bu yazıda yazarın dört romanı üzerinde durulacaktır. Bunlar şu eserlerdir: Ağustos Başağı (1989), Çırpıntılar (1991), Karanlığa Direnen Yıldız (1996), Deli Zamanlar (2000).
