“WHAT IS A DIVAN POET TYPICALLY THANKFUL FOR AND WHY? THANKFULNESS AS A WAY OF LITERARY EXPRESSION”

Abstract

In the works of the Ottoman poets, it is very important to examine the placement and context of the words, as well as the intention for which they were used, so as to understand the poets’ way of thinking, worldview, the literary norms of the period and the practices of writing poetry. The role of words reflecting feelings, such as admiration, happiness, thankfulness, anger and confusion in revealing this mode of thought and tradition of poetry seems to have been overlooked to this day. The Ottoman poets’ discourse of thankfulness, as a result of their joy and gratitude of the events that they considered important for themselves, their praised and society, have been made clear in this work. Therefore, the events which the poets met with particular thanks have been listed. At the same time, it is very important to show attitudes, behavioural patterns and expectations of Ottoman society and the way these have changed across the centuries. The final section asserts that this discourse is a particular wording that the poets made use of while telling the positive impacts of the events encountered on the individual and society.

Özet

Osmanlı şairlerinin ürettikleri metinlerde/eserlerde yer alan kelimelerin nerede, neamaçla, hangi bağlamlarda kullanıldıklarının incelenmesi şairlerin zihin yapısının,dünyayı algılayış biçiminin, dönemin edebiyat normları ve şiir yazma pratiklerininortaya konması bakımından son derece önemlidir. Özellikle takdir/beğeni, mutluluk,minnet, kızgınlık, şaşkınlık gibi duyguların yansıması olan kelimelerin bu zihin yapısı ve şiir geleneğinin ortaya çıkarılmasındaki rolü bugüne kadar göz ardı edilmişgibi görünmektedir. Bu çalışmada Osmanlı şairlerinin kendisi, memduhu ve/veyatoplum için önemli/değerli gördükleri olaylar sonucunda sevinçlerinin ve Allah’aminnettarlıklarının ifadesi olan hamd/şükür söylemleri üzerinde durulmuştur.Bunun için öncelikle şairlerin şükürle karşıladıkları olaylar maddeler hâlindesıralanmıştır. Bu aynı zamanda Osmanlı toplumunun olaylara bakış açısını,davranış kalıplarını, beklentilerini ve bunların yüzyıllar içinde değişimini göstermesibakımından önemlidir. Son bölümde ise bu söylemin şairlerin yaşanan olaylarınbireyler ve/veya toplum üzerindeki olumlu etkilerini anlatırken faydalandıkları biranlatım biçimi/kurgusal özellik olduğu iddia edilmiştir.
