Abstract
Slime production of 100 coagulase negative staphylococci isolated from various clinical samples have been in¬vestigated by Christensen and Congo red agar methods in various atmospheric conditions, such as aerobiosis, 5-10% CO2, and anaerobiosis. Slime production rates were found as follows respectively for aerobiosis, 5-10% CO2, and anaerobiosis 51%, 36%, 30% by Congo red agar. The rates, however, are found as 32%, 25% and 17% by Christensen method. It has been observed that slime production was best detected by Congo red agar in aerobic condition. S.epidermidis is the most strain that slime producing in coagulase negative strains.
