Abstract
Afghanistan is one of the countries which is instable, has security problems due to the conflicts it has faced throughout its history which are still continuing today. Therefore, there is continuous migration from the country. Afghan migrants live in the whole world as refugees, asylum-seekers, or fugitives today. Migration, which increases rapidly and influences almost every region from the East to the West, and from the South to the North on earth due to globalisation, moves from insecure regions to relatively more secure regions. The Migration Culture and Conflict Model analyses recent migrations from this perspective. The model has also been used in scrutinising the associations between the literature and migration moving away from the limitations of other models so as to understand and describe migratory processes. This study considers Afghanistan as a country of insecurity- as suggested by the postulate of the model. It analyses insecurity caused by conflicts in the country and migration occurring due to the conflicts through the novel The Kite Runner by the Afghan author Khaled Hosseini. The novel tells about the semi-century change of Afghanistan and its transformation into an insecure geography through the life and eyes of a child. Amir, the protagonist of the novel, with his father fled the war and conflict. He migrated from the unsecured space of Kabul to the relative security space America. Conflicts led to migration, and migration led to new areas of conflict in the destination country.
