Case report: The local cutaneous Leishmaniasis case to be diagnosed in Muğla, Turkey

Abstract

The patient, a 16 years old boy, presented at the microbiology and clinical microbiology laboratory of the Medical Faculty of the Adnan Menderes University because of non-healing lesions that had been on his left cheek and nose for 2-3 years. Leishmania amastigotes were seen in the Giemsa stained smears prepared from the lesions. Meglumine antimoniate (Glucantime®) treatment was started. After few weeks, the lesions were cured leading to scar formation. Since there has been no case of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Muğla reported in the literature.

Özet

Sol yanağında ve burnunda 2-3 yıldır iyileşmeyen iki deri lezyonu bulunan, 16 yaşındaki erkek hasta Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi Tip Fakültesi Mikrobiyoloji ve Klinik Mikrobiyoloji Anabilim Dalı Parazitoloji Laboratuvanna başvurmuştur. Lezyondan hazırlanan yaymaların Giemsa ile boyamasında Leishmania amastigotlannın görülmesi üzerine meglumine antimoniate (Glucantime®) tedavisi intralezyoner olarak 1ml/cm2 'ye olacak şekilde üç gün ara ile toplam 12 injeksiyon uygulanmıştır. Daha sonraki kontrolde lezyonun skar dokusu bırakarak iyileştiği görülmüştür. Muğla ilinde kutanöz leishmaniasisi bildiren bir yayın bulunamaması nedeni ile bu olgu sunulmuştur.
