Case report of histomonas meleagridis (Protozoa: Monocercomonodidae) in turkeys in Van

Abstract
Out of 23 turkeys bred in the private sector, 2 that had died were brought to Veterinary Faculty for autopsy. Typical lesions were observed in the livers and caecum during the postmortem examination. During the parasitological examination, Histomonas meleagridis trophozoites were found in all of the 23 turkeys.
Özet
Özel bir işletmede yetiştirilen 23 hindiden ölen iki hindi otopsi muayenesi için Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi, Parazitoloji ve Mikrobiyoloji laboratuarlarına getirildi. Yapılan otopsi muayenesinde iki hindinin de karaciğer ve sekumunda tipik lezyonlar görüldü. Parazitolojik incelemede diğer 21 hindi ile beraber toplam 23 hayvanda Histomonas meleagridis 'in trofozoitlerine rastlandı.
