Tick (Acari: Ixodidae, argasidae) infestation in rodents caught in different region of Turkey

Abstract

The aim of this study was the detection of tick infestation of 25 rodents caught randomly. We collected the rodents from the provinces of Ankara, Bursa, Diyarbakır, Siirt and Urfa between the years 1976-1977. Each one was put into a special plastic bag. Ticks collected from each rodent were put in bottles containing 70 % alcohol. The ticks were identified using the Reichert 10x4 stereo microscope. Out of the 25 rodents, four of them were infected with Meriones tristrami, Cricetulus migratorius, and Mesocricetus auratus and two of them, with Citellus dtellus, Microtus guentheri, Microtus arvalis, and Mesocricetus branthi. Five rodents had l each of the following species; Apodemus sylvaticus, Croddura suaveolans, Meriones persicus and Apodemus spp. A total of 196 ticks were collected from these rats. These 196 ticks included 184 Ixodidae and 12 Argasidae. From the Ixodidae family, the Hyalomma, Haemaphysalis, and Ixodes genera were found. From the Argasidae family, only larvae of the Argasgemıs were detected.

Bu çalışma rastgele yakalanan 25 kemiricide kene enfestasyonunu saptamak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Kemiriciler 1976-1977 yıllan arasında Ankara, Bursa, Diyarbakır, Siirt ve Urfa illerinden yakalanmış, her biri özel plastik torbalara konulmuştur. Her kemiriciden tekniğine uygun olarak toplanan keneler içinde %70'lik alkol bulunan şişelere alınmıştır. Kenelerin teşhisleri Reichert 10x4 büyütmeli stereo mikroskopta yapılmıştır. Yakalanan 25 kemiriciden 4'er adetinin Meriones tristrami, Cricetulus migratorius, Mesocricetus auratus; 2'şer adetinin Citellus dtellus, Microtus guentheri, Microtus arvalis, Mesocricetus branthi: 1 'er adetinin Apodemus sylvaticus, Croddura suaveolans, Meriones persicus ve Apodemus sp. olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu kemiricilerden 196 kene toplanmıştır. Bunlardan 184' ünün Ixodidae, 12' sinin Argasidae ailesinden olduğu tespit edilmiştir. lxodidae ailesinden Hyalomma, Haemaphysalis, Ixodes soylarına ait larva, nimfler ile Rhipicephalus soyundan larvalar bulunmuştur. Argasidae ailesinden yalnızca Argas soyuna ait larvalar saptanmıştır.
