Preparation of an antigen from an in vitro culture of Plasmodium vivax and its evaluation by indirect fluorescence antibody test (IFAT)

Abstract
Serological methods are important when parasites are located in the viscera and deep tissues, when they are very few in number, when they may be detected only for a limited period of time in the samples, or when the methods for detecting them are complicated. In our study, in vitro cultures of P. vivax were used as antigen. Samples prepared from the cultures were evaluated by IFAT and a serum titer of 1:40 was found to give the highest positive result.

Parazitlerin iç organ ve dokulara yerleştiği durumlarda veya direk muayene örneğinde infeksiyonun az sayıda bulunabildiği yada tanı için bir dizi karışık işlemler gerektiğinde serolojik yöntemler oldukça önem taşımaktadır. Çalışmamızda antijen olarak P. vivax'm in vitro kültüründen alınan parazitler kullanılmıştır. Kültürden hazırlanan preparatların IFAT ile değerlendirilmesi sonucunda 1:40 serum litresinin en yüksek pozitif değer verdiği belirlenmiştir.
