Giardia intestinalis ile enfekte hastalarda serum malondialdehid düzeyindeki değişiklikler

Changes in the level of serum malondialdehyde in patients infected with Giardia intestinalis

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate changes in the level of serum malondialdehyde in relation to the oxidative stress hypothesis in patients infected with Giardia intestinalis. Serum malondialdehyde concentration activity was measured in 64 patients infected with the intestinal parasite of Giardia Intestinalis. The levels of serum malondialdehyde were compared in patients infected with Giardia intestinalis and 60 Giardia intestinalis negative healthy controls matched according to age and gender. There were no significant differences observed in the levels of malondialdehyde in patients with Giardia intestinalis and the control group in either females (p>0.05) or males (p>0.05). In addition, no correlation was found between age and malondialdehyde levels in the patient and control group in either females or males (p>0.05). Thus, no change was observed in levels of malondialdehyde in the patients infected with Giardia intestinalis as compared to controls.

Özet

Çalışmamızdaki amaç, Giardia intestinalis ile enfekte hastalarda serum malondialdehid düzeyindeki değişiklikleri, diğer bir deyişle oksidatif stres hipotezini incelemektir. Bu amaçla, 64 Giardia intestinalis ile enfekte hastada ve 60 sağlıklı kontrolde serum malondialdehid konsantrasyon aktivitesi araştırılarak sonuçlar karşılaştırıldı ve bulunan değerler yaş ve cinsiyete göre karşılaştırıldı. Cinsiyete bağımlı olarak kontrol ve hasta grubundaki malondialdehid seviyelerinde bir değişiklik gözlenmedi. Aynı zamanda kontrol grubu ve hasta grubu arasındaki malondialdehid seviyelerinin kadın ve erkeklerde yaşla bir bağlantısı gözlenmedi. Sonuç olarak Giardia intestinalis ile enfekte hastalarda malondialdehid seviyelerinde kontrol grubuna göre bir değişiklik gözlenememiştir.
