Changes in some hematological parameters in children with ascariasis

Abstract

This study was made in order to detect the relationship between ascariasis and some hematological parameters in schoolchildren. The study group consisted of children ranging between 7-17 years old. There were 72 children with ascariasis and 25 children without parasites. Hematological analysis was earned out in order to determine the following: hemoglobin, hematocrit mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular volume (MCV) and the red cell distribution width (RDW). In conclusion, all of the hematological parameters were found to be statistically important.

Bu çalışma ilk öğretim çocuklarında bazı hematolojik parametreler ile ascariasis arasındaki ilişkiyi ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla yapıldı. Çalışma grubunu;7-14 yaşları arasındaki 72 ascariasis'li ve 25 parazitsiz çocuk oluşturdu. Hematolojik testlerden hemoglobin, hematokrit, ortalama eritrosit hemoglobin konsantrasyonu (MCHC), ortalama eritrosit hemoglobini (MCH), ortalama eritrosit hacmi (MCV) ve eritrosit dağılım genişliği (RDW) ölçüldü. Çalışma sonunda ölçülen tüm parametrelerde parazitli grup ile kontrol grubu arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklar elde edildi.
