Investigation of the prevalence of cystic echinococcosis IgG antibodies in farmers by ELISA

Abstract

Cystic echinococcosis is an important public health problem throughout the world as well as in our country. The disease is most common in areas involved in raising livestock. This study was done in order to investigate the prevalence of hydatidosis in farmers in the province of Silivri. We investigated hydatid IgG antibodies by ELISA in 391 serum samples from farmers. They included 146 males and 245 females aged between 30-65 years. Hydatid IgG antibodies were detected in the serum samples of 19 (4.85%) of whom 6 (4.1%) were males and 13 (5.3%). females.

Özet

Dünyada ve ülkemizde önemli bir sağlık sorunu olan kistik ekinokokkozis özellikle hayvancılıkla uğraşan bölgelerde sıklıkla rastlanmaktadır. Bu çalışma Silivri bölgesindeki çiftçilerde kistik ekinokokkozisin yaygınlığını araştırmak için yapılmıştır. Yaşları 30-65 arasında olan 146 erkek ve 245 kadın olmak üzere toplam 391 çiftçiden alman serum örnekleri kistik ekinokokkozis yönünden değerlendirilmiştir. Toplam 19 (%4.85) kişide [13 (%5.3) kadın ve 6 (%4.1) erkek] seropozitiflik saptanmıştır.
