A investigation on the evaluation of flood potential in Northwest Black Sea Region

Batı Karadeniz Bölgesi'nde potansiyel taşkın alanlarının belirlenmesine yönelik bir çalışma

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the flood potential, which can be considered as one of the most important natural hazards, in Northwest Black Sea region. For this purpose, the parameters can be used for evaluating the flooding phenomena are taken into account with the aid of Geographical Information System (GIS). Precipitation climatology, -Digital Elevation Model (DEM), land-use and drainage network characteristics are considered as input parameters. Potential flood areas are determined for a period of 50 years. Northwest part of the study area is found as relatively susceptible to flooding according to the analyses perfored.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Batı Karadeniz Bölgesi'nde doğal afetler açısından büyük önem taşıyan potansiyel taşkın alanlarının belirlenmesidir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, potansiyel taşkın alanlarının belirlenmesinde kullanılabilecek parametreler, Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemi (CBS) tekniği kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Bölgenin yağış klimatolojisi, Sayısal Arazi Modeli (SAM), arazi kullanımı ve drenaj ağı etkisi girdi parametreleri olarak ele alınmıştır. Taşkından etkilenme tehlikesi bulunan muhtemel alanlar, 50 yıllık bir periyod için belirlenmiştir. Yapılan değerlendirmeler sonucunda, incelenen alanın kuzeybatı kesimleri taşkın potansiyeli açısından diğer kesimlere göre daha duyarlı olarak bulunmuştur.
