An investigation on the effects of weeds on number and weight of rhizobium nodules in maize-bean mixed culture

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the weeds on number and weight of rhizobium nodules. The study was conducted between 1996 and 1998 in the research plots at the Rural Services Research Institute and Gaziosmanpaşa University, Tokat, Turkey. Based on the results obtained in three years, the highest number and weight of the nodules occurred in weed free plots (67,33 nodules/plant, 1,030 gr/plant), followed by continuously weed covered for 15 days (30,78 nodules/plant, 0,507 gr/plant), weed covered for 30 days (16,00 nodules/plant, 0,260 gr/plant), weed covered for 45 days (6,11 nodules/plant, 0,147 gr/plant) and continuous weed covered plots (0,45 nodules/plant, 0,020 gr/plant). In this study, 8,10 and 7 weed species were found in 1996,1997 and 1998, respectively.

Özet

Bu çalışma, 1996, 1997 ve 1998 yıllarında Tokat Köy Hizmetleri Araştırma Enstitüsü ile Gaziosmanpaşa Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi deneme alanında yabancı otların rizobium nodüllerinin sayı ve ağırlığına etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. 3 yıl ortalamasında nodüllerin sayı ve ağırlığı devamlı otsuz parsellerde en yüksek düzeyde bulunurken (67,33 nodul/bitki, 1,030 gr/bitki), bunu sırasıyla 15 gün otlu (30,78 nodul/bitki, 0,507 gr/bitki), 30 gün otlu (16,00 nodul/bitki, 0,260 gr/bitki), 45 gün otlu (6,11 nodul/bitki, 0,147 gr/bitki) ve devamlı otlu (0,45 nodul/bitki, 0,020 gr/bitki) parseller takip itmiştir. Çalışmada 1996 yılında 8, 1997 yılında 10 ve 1998 yılında da 7 tür yabancı ota rastlanılmıştır.
