Abstract

The blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome (BRBNS) known as Bean syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by cutaneous and gastrointestinal vascular malformations such as hemangioma. Other organ and sites may be involved by hemangiomas, including the liver, mesentery, peritoneum, lung, penis, skeletal muscle, skull, and central nervous system (CNS). Skin lesions usually do not bleed and are painless. The most common clinical manifestation of this syndrome is iron deficiency anemia which is caused by bleeding of vascular malformations in the gastrointestinal tract. Involvement of CNS was rarely reported. In literature paraplegia cases associated with this syndrome were usually reported in patients with vertebral hemangiomas. In this paper, we present a case with paraplegia associated with thoracal epidural hematoma.
