Yabancı cisim yutulması çocukluk çağında sık karşılaşılan bir problemdir. Bu yabancı cisimlerin büyük çoğunluğu gaitayla kendiliğinden çıkar. Apendikste yabancı cisim ve buna bağlı perforasyon gelişimi oldukça nadirdir. Burada 8 yaşındaki bir çocukta akut karın tablosuna neden olan toplu iğneye bağlı apendiks ucundan perforasyon olgusu sunulmuştur.
