Effects of entomopathogenic fungi on Blatta lateralis Walker (Blattodea: Blattidae)

Abstract
In this research, efficiency of some entomopathogen fungus preparations applied by using different methods, on nymph and adults of Blatta lateralis under laboratory conditions, were investigated. As a result, M. anisopliae, when applied on the surface where the pest was living, showed the highest effect. In this method, effect of the entomopathogen on the adults of the pest was higher, and caused 100% mortality on adults 13 days after application. Mortality was not observed both on adults and nymphae when the entomopathogen applied by the food infestation method. Food infested with Beauveria bassiana caused 44% and 6% mortality on adults and nypmhae, respectively, 20 days after application. Application of Nostalgist containing B. bassiana caused 40% and 48% mortality in the same period. Nibortem containing the same entomopathogen was found ineffective against the pest both by the food infestation and spraying methods.
Özet
Bu çalışmada, farklı şekillerde uygulanan entomopatojen fungus ve preparatlarının laboratuvar koşullarında B. lateralis"in nimf ve erginlerine karşı etkinliği incelenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda; M. anisopliae"nin zararlının yaşadığı yüzeye bulaştırılma şeklinde uygulandığında en yüksek etkiyi gösterdiği saptanmıştır. Bu yöntemde, entomopatojenin zararlı erginleri üzerindeki etkisi daha yüksek olmuş, uygulamadan 13 gün sonra % 100 ölüm gözlenmiştir. Entomopatojen besine bulaştırma yöntemiyle uygulandığında ise hem nimf hem de erginlerde ölüm gözlenmemiştir. Beauveria bassiana besine bulaştırma yönteminde 20. gün sonunda B. lateralis erginlerinde % 44, nimflerde ise % 6 ölüme neden olmuştur. B. bassiana içerikli Nostalgist uygulamasında 20. gün sonunda B. lateralis erginlerinde % 40, nimflerde ise % 48 ölüm gözlenmiştir. Aynı entomopatojen fungusu içeren Nibortem ise, hem besine bulaştırma hem de zararlı üzerine püskürtme yöntemleriyle uygulandığında etkisiz bulunmuştur.
