European union as a subject of international law

Abstract
It is obviously concluded by the Lisbon Treaty that the European Union is the subject of international law. In this study, with the aim of discussing the position of European Union with regard to its status of being the subject ofiInternational Law, it is initially pointed out the basic explanations of the issue of subjects of international law. Afterwards, the characteristics of European Union as a subject of international law, and the basic legal arrangements in this subject has been referred accordingly. Sub- sequently, the rights and the obligations of European Union as a conclusion of being a subject of international law has been elaborated.

Lizbon Antlaşması ile Avrupa Birliği’nin uluslararası süjeliğe sahip olduğu açık bir biçimde hükme bağlanmıştır. Avrupa Birliği’nin uluslararası süjeliğini farklı açılardan ele almayı amaçlayan bu çalışmamızda, öncelikle uluslararası süjelik konusunda temel bazı açıklamalara yer verilmiştir. Bunun devamında, uluslararası bir süje olarak Avru- pa Birliği’nin niteliklerine ve bu konudaki temel hukuki düzenlemelere değinilmiştir. Bunların akabinde, uluslararası süjeliğinin sonucu olarak Avrupa Birliği’nin elde ettiği hak ve yetkiler ayrıntılı bir şekilde ele alınmıştır.
