Abstract
Travel books, which are created as a result of interest in another world, are written out to tell about the visited places; and these books are very important texts in historiography, especially in composing the socio-economical and socio- cultural history and history of thought. In this article we are going to draw the attention to the extremely strategic importance of travel books in the Ottoman- Turkish modernization, and analyze the contribution of travelers‘' impressions to the devolopment of political and cultural thought born within the period of transition from Empire to Nation State.
Özet
Başka dünyayı merak etme ve başkalarına gezilen görülen yerleri anlatma hissiyle kaleme alınan seyahatnameler, özellikle sosyo-ekonomik, sosyo-kültür ve düşünce tarihi yazımında kullanılması gereken son derece önemli metinlerdir. Biz bu yazımızda Osmanlı-Türk modernleşmesinde seyahatnamelerin son derece stratejik önemine dikkat çekeceğiz. Ġmparatorluktan Ulus Devlet‘e geçiş aşamasında ortaya çıkan siyasal ve kültürel düşüncenin oluşmasında seyyahların izlenimlerinin katkısını irdeleyeceğiz.
