The value of serum HBV DNA measurements in monitoring therapy with interferon alpha in patients with chronic active hepatitis B virus infection

Abstract
In this study, serum hepatitis B viral DNA (HBV DNA) levels were measured by molecular hybridization (MH) for detecting the response to interferon alpha (α-IFN) therapy in patients with chronic active hepatitis B virus infection. HBV DNA positive six and negative nine cases for the therapy group (TG) and 20 untreated cases for the control group (CG) were investigated. TG was treated with 4.5 million unit (MU) α -IFN (three times weekly) for six months and followed up during 12 months. Çalışmamızda, moleküler hibridizasyon (MH) yöntemi ile serum Hepatitis B Viral DNA (HBV DNA) düzeyleri ölçülerek, kronik aktif hepatit B virüs infeksiyonluların alfa-interferon (α-IFN) tedavisine yanıtı araştırılmıştır. HBV DNA pozitif altı, negatif dokuz olgu tedavi grubu (TG); α-IFN ile tedaviyi kabul etmeyen 20 olgu da kontrol grubu (KG) olarak alınmıştır.
