Investigation of demodex sp. using cellophane tape method in foreign male students in a high school

Abstract
Objective: Demodex sp., permanent ectoparasite of human, is especially found inthe face of people and the adult mites are like worm and cheroot shape. Pathogenicmechanism is not known exactly. Our study was carried out in order to investigate thefrequency of Demodex sp. among foreign male students in a high school. Method: The study was conducted Germirli high school in Kayseri among foreign malestudents. Before the study, information about parasite and study methods were givento each student. After informed consent, cellophane-tape preparations were taken fromstudent’s face, especially from the base of the nose, underside of the jaw and the sidesof the forehead were examined microscopically. Pearson’s chi-square test was used forstatistically analyze and p0.05). Conclusion: This parasite transmitted by close contact from person to person can be found in healthy individuals.
Özet
Amaç: Demodex sp., insanların özellikle yüz bölgesinde yaygın olarak bulunan,erişkini solucana veya puroya benzeyen patojenik mekanizması tam olarak bilinmeyeninsanın kalıcı ektoparazitidir. Çalışmamız bir lisede öğrenim gören yabancı uyruklu erkeköğrencilerde Demodex sp. yaygınlığını araştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Çalışma, Kayseri Germirli Anadolu İmam-Hatip Lisesi’nde öğrenim görenyabancı uyruklu erkek öğrenciler üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Çalışma öncesi parazit veyöntem hakkında her bir öğrenciye bilgi verilmiştir. Bilgilendirme sonrası, öğrencilerinyüzlerinden; özellikle burun kökü, çene altı ve alın bölgesinden selofan-bant yöntemiile alınan örneklerin mikroskobik incelemesi yapılmıştır.
