The Student Expectations and the Satısfaction Level Concerning the "School Experience I " Lesson

Okul Deneyimi I Dersinden Öğrencilerin Beklentileri ve Bu Beklentilerin Karşılanma Düzeyi

Abstract

“School Experience I” lesson gets almost the first place in Turkish teacher training system. It generally aims to inform the candidates about what sort of a job they are supposed to have. This is an important opportunity for the students since it makes them have a more conscious approach towards the lessons they will study with related to the teaching profession. The main aim of this study is to determine the cognitive, sensational, and behavioural expectations of the students and their satisfaction level with respect to the “School Experience I” lesson. The data in the study was obtained through the application of the questionnaire developed by the researchers to the first-year students from different departments in Kırşehir Educational Faculty. The questionnaire was applied twice, at the beginning and at the end of the process, to determine the expectations and the satisfaction level.For the analysis and evaluation of the data, arithmetic mean, t test and pearson’s r values were utilized. As a conclusion of this study, it is found that the “School Experience I” lesson does not satisfy the observer expectations and the satisfaction levels and that the expectation and satisfaction levels are in order from higher to lower as cognitive, sensational, and behavioral dimensions respectively. Moreover, it is seen that there is a meaningful and positive correlational among the dimensions mentioned. The strongest relation in the among these dimensions is the one between the sensational, and behavioral dimensions.

Özet

Okul Deneyimi I dersi, öğretmen yetiştirme sürecinin hemen hemen başında yer alan bir derstir. Genel olarak amacı, öğretmen adaylarını neye aday oldukları konusunda bilgilendirmektir. Gelecekte öğretmenlik mesleği ile ilgili olarak alacakları derslere daha bilinçli yaklaşmaları için bu ders, öğrenciler açısından önemli bir fırsattır. Bu çalışmanın ana problemi ve genel amacı, öğrencilerin Okul Deneyimi I dersinden bilişsel, duyuşsal ve davranışsal beklentilerini ve bunların karşılanma düzeyini belirlemektir. Çalışma ile ilgili veriler, araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen anket formunun, Kırşehir Eğitim Fakültesinin farklı bölümlerinde öğrenim gören birinci sınıf öğrencilerine uygulanması ile elde edilmiştir. Anket formu, beklentileri ve beklentilerin karşılanma düzeylerini belirlemek için sürecin başında ve sonunda olmak üzere iki kez uygulanmıştır. Verilerin çözüm ve yorumlanmasında aritmetik ortalama, t testi ve pearson’s r değerlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Çalışma sonunda Okul Deneyimi I dersinin, gözlemci beklentilerini karşılamadığı, beklentilerle karşılanma düzeylerinin yüksekten düşüğe doğru duyuşsal, davranışsal ve bilişsel boyutlar şeklinde sıralandığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca belirtilen boyutlar arasında anlamlı ve pozitif bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Boyutlar arasındaki en güçlü ilişki duyuşsal ve davranışsal boyutlar arasındadır.
