A Pamphlet of Humor from 19th Century: “Tebessüm yâhûd Güzel Eğlence”

Abstract

The article is written for the purpose of people think, entertain and laugh located in the humor genre by reflecting the life’s funny, imperfect and contradictory side. Humor is carried out in various ways such as image that lead people to laugh, text, miniature, game, caricature and speech. Waggery/joke comes at the beginning of this type of homorous studies. Also, one common method to transfer the message that was given to the audience is to get the story style text. In this way, the moral is carried out by transfering different events, cases and person. The subject of this article, “Tebessüm yâhûd Güzel Eğlence” is a series of pamphlet consisted of humor. This pamphlets were published in four volumes by Mahmud Şakir in 1299 (1881/1882) year, as far as we can determine. In each pamphlet there is an “İhtar” title, description section by the author. There are total 145 jokes and 23 stories in four pamphlets. Jokes and stories have different topics not to focus on a specific topic. In this article, after providing information on the subject of the introductory, first, author and pamphlets will be introduced. Then located within the texts form will be examined in terms of content and styles and classification of the jokes. Finally, scientific form of the texts in the pamphlet will be presented.

Hayatın gülünç, aksak ve çelişkili yanlarını yansıtarak insanı düşündürme, eğlendirmeveya güldürme maksadıyla kaleme alınan ürünler, mizah türü içerisinde yer almaktadır.Mizah, insanı gülmeye yönelten resim, yazı, minyatür, oyun, karikatür ve konuşma gibiçeşitli yollarla gerçekleştirilmektedir. Bu tür mizahî ürünlerin en başında latife/fıkragelmektedir. Ayrıca dinleyiciye/okuyucuya verilmek istenen mesajı aktarmak için başvurulanyöntemlerden biri de hikâye tarzı metinlere başvurmaktır. Bu şekilde farklıolay, durum ve kişiler üzerinden kıssadan hisse aktarımı gerçekleştirilir. Çalışmamızınkonusu, “Tebessüm yâhûd Güzel Eğlence” isimli mizah risalesi serisidir. Bu eser,Mahmûd Şâkir tarafından H.1299 [M.1881/1882] yılında, tespit edebildiğimiz kadarıyladört sayısı hâlinde yayınlanmıştır. Risalelerin ilk sayfalarında naşiri tarafından “İhtâr”başlığıyla bir açıklama bölümü yer almaktadır. Dört risalede toplam 145 fıkra ve 23hikâye bulunmaktadır. Fıkra ve hikâyeler belirli bir konu üzerinde yoğunlaşmayıp farklımuhtevalara sahiptir. Bu yazıda ilk önce konuya giriş mahiyetinde bilgi verdikten sonrayazar ve adı geçen risaleler tanıtılacak, ardından içerisinde yer alan metinler şekil,muhteva ve üslup yönünden incelenecek ve fıkraların tasnifi yapılacaktır. Çalışmanınsonunda ise risalelerdeki metinlerin ilmî neşri sunulacaktır.
