Abstract
Reigned from 1762 to 1796 in Russia, Catherine II was daughter of a minor German prince. Catherine became the Tsarina after she married to Russian Tsar, Peter III. Having been bothered by the incoherent attitudes and incapability of the Tsar Peter III, some Russian statesmen deposed him killing by a conspiracy and took Catherine II into power in Russia. Catherine II, who was just thirty-three years old when she was enthroned, tried to implement the principles of Peter I for the foreign affairs. Catherine II had only one purpose about the Ottomans. That purpose was to turn the Black Sea into a Russian sea by expanding the reign so as to include the Crimea land and to put an end to the Tatar invasions which bother Russian people very much for a long time. Within this purpose, the Tsarina Catherine II took part in all available intrigues to subvert the Ottoman Empire both externally and internally.
