Alptegin: The Throne of Ghazni from the Slave market

Abstract

Alptegin has been accepted as the founder of the Ghaznavids state. He was ghulam and his origin was Turkish he was bought by Samanid Amir Ahmad bin Ismail. Samanids known to have applied the Ghulam system successfully and in their state, Alptegin received a high class education and therefore he was promoted to high position in a short time. His position gave him the opportunity to play active role in the struggle for throne. However his power declined in a short time and lost his authority. He had to leave from Samanid service and went to Ghazni and also he conquered there where he found the Ghazni State. The story of Alptegin began in a slave market finished in the geography that it was found as the founder of the Ghazni State that the effects wasn’t deleted to present.

Özet

Gazneliler Devleti’nin kurucusu olarak kabul edilen Alptegin, Sâmânî emîri Ahmed b. İsmâil tarafından satın alınan Türk kökenli bir gulâmdır. Gulâm sistemini başarıyla uyguladığı bilinen Sâmânîler döneminde iyi bir eğitim almış ve kısa sürede temayüz ederek önemli görevlere yükselmiştir. Zamanla Sâmânî tahtında meydana gelen hükümdar değişikliklerine müdahale edebilecek derecede etkin bir güce ulaşmıştır. Ancak bu durum fazla sürmemiştir. Merkezi otorite ile yaşadığı çatışma neticesinde Sâmânî hizmetinden ayrılmak zorunda kalarak Gazne’ye gitmiş ve burayı fethederek Gazneliler Devleti’nin temelini atmıştır. Alptegin’in köle pazarında başlayan hikâyesi, kurulduğu coğrafyada günümüze kadar etkisi silinmeyen bir devletin, Gazneliler Devleti’nin kurucusu olarak son bulmuştur.
