Midhat Pasha and the Middle East

Abstract

The value of the geopolitical region on the Middle East - Eurasia continent, -between Mediterranean Sea where the gulf of Atlantic Ocean and Basra of the Indian Ocaean- is increasing throughout the history. Midhat Pasha had done his most successful duties while he was the governor of Baghdad and Syria. The years when the Middle East had started geostrategic reshape he was on duty. The services and the vision of Midhat Pasha in the years between he was on duty are still up-to date.

Ortadoğu Avrasya kıtasının Atlantik Okyanusunun körfezi Akdeniz ile Hint Okyanusunun körfezi Basra arasında uzanan, jeopolitik değeri tarih boyunca artarak devam eden bir bölgedir. Midhat Paşanın en başarılı valilik görevlerini Bağdat ve Suriyede yaptığı değerlendirilmektedir. Ortadoğunun bugün son şeklini alan jeostratejik yapılanmasının henüz başladığı dönemde valilik yapmıştır. Paşanın valilik yaptığı beş yıl içinde yaptığı hizmetler ve ortaya koyduğu jeopolitik görüşler bugün de güncelliğini korumaktadır.
