An Assessment On Ornament Arts In Fatih Mosque

Abstract
Fatih Mosque, one of the oldest and the most significant religious struc- tures located on a central area, has undergone many repairs and changes to a great extent because of earthquake, fire and other natural disasters since it had been built. It draws attention with its reflecting other eras arts even if it has a few examples particularly the reign of Mehmed the Conqu- eror. The inscription of the construction and the other ones were written by the most famous calligraphists of the era. Fatih Mosque has a rich architecture with its tile, wood and metal works even with a few samples in addition to the simple examples of marble craftsmanship. Only by the help of the reference books, we know the enrichment of hand-drawn of the reign of Mehmed the Conqueror which couldn’t reach to the present day.
Özet
İstanbul’un en eski ve en önemli dini yapılarından biri olan ve merkezi bir bölgede yer alan Fatih Camisi, inşa edildiği tarihten günümüze kadar deprem, yangın ve diğer doğal afetlerden dolayı birçok kez tamir görmüş ve büyük ölçüde değişime uğramıştır. Başta Fatih dönemi olmak üzere, az sayıdaki örneklerle de olsa daha sonraki dönemlerin sanatlarını da yansıtması bakımından dikkat çekmektedir. Caminin inşa kitabesi ve diğer kitabeler devrin en önemli hattatları tarafından yazılmıştır. Fatih Camisi, taş, mermer işçiliğinin sade örnekleri yanı sıra, az sayı- daki örneklerle de olsa çini, ağaç ve maden işleri yönünden de zenginlik göstermektedir. Bugün günümüze ulaşmayan Fatih döneminin kalem işi zenginliğini ise sadece kaynaklardan öğreniyoruz
