A comparison of anthralin and combined therapy of anthralin+galvanotherapy in psoriasis

Abstract

Background:İn psoriasis, combined therapy models are often designated to determine the most effective therapy in psoriasis, as well as other new modalities of treatment. İn this study, the efficacies of the combina- tion of anthralin and galvanotherapy, and anthralin alone is compared. Design: Anthralin therapy is applied to 20 patients vvith psoriasis and anthralin+galvanotherapy is applied to another 20 patients vvith psoriasis, for 4 weeks. The results are vveekly evaluated by PASI scores, betvveen the first and the fourth weeks. Results and Conclusion: At the end of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th vveeks, the PASI scores of the group to which anthralin therapy has been applied were 4.90, 3.07, 1.73, 1.37 and the PASI scores of the group to vvhich anthralin+galvanotherapy has been applied were 4.25, 2.49, 1.14, 0.67, respectively. There was not any statis- tically significant difference betvveen the PASI scores of each group.

Özet

Psoriasis olgularında en etkili sağaltım yöntemini bulmak amacı ile yeni sağaltım modelleri ve kombine sağaltımlar uygulanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada da, antralin+galvanoterapi kombine sağaltım modelinin etkinliği antralin sağaltımı ile karşılaştırarak incelenmiştir. Psoriasis 'li 20 olguya antralin sağaltımı, 20 olguya da antralin+galvanoterapi 4 hafta süreyle uygulanmış ve sonuçlar PASI skoru ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Sonuçta da sağaltımın 1., 2., 3., ve 4. haftalarında antralin uygulanan grubun PAŞİ skorları ortalamaları sırasıyla 4.90, 3.07, 1.73 ve 1.37, antralin+galvanoterapi uygulanan grubun PAŞİ skorları ortalamaları sırasıyla 4.25, 2.49, 1.14 ve 0.67 olarak bulunmuştur. Her iki grubun 1., 2., 3. ve 4. hafta sonlarındaki PAŞİ skorları ortalamaları karşılaştırıldığında aralarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık saptanmamıştır.
