Development and structureof manufacturing industry in Adıyaman

Abstract

Currently, the industry sector is one of the main tools of the general economy in terms of providing the value added and employment in Turkey. Industrial activities which were accelerated by the Founding of Turkish Republic clustered only in certain centers for a long period. The years later due to the effort to add a great number of the new centers, created to spread of industry throughout the country. In this study its aimed to analyze the case of manufacturing industrial activities in the province of Adıyaman. In this context, its examined the development and the current structure of manufacturing industry in the province on the basis of data from the Provincial Directorate of Industry and Trade. Adıyaman is one of the provinces participated in the industrialization process quite late. Until the 1980s, except for a few public enterprises there were not factory- type industry sector in Province. But by the incentives from this period created a significant increase in manufacturing industry sector. The beginning of manufacturing industry by founding the cotton ginning factory in 1955, than industrial enterprises increased period by period. In fact, while the number of enterprises were 28 in the year of 1994 than reached 91 in 1998, 98 in 2001, 146 in 2006, 225 in 2008 and finally 259 in the year of 2011. In the specified process, not only for the number of enterprises but also in parallel, its observed a significant increase in the amount of employment. In this context, while the 3192 people employed in the manufacturing industry sector in the year of 1994, the number of employee increased 5124 in 2001, 7222 in 2006, 9876 in 2008 and finally 10633 in the year of 2011. After 1950 significant changes have occurred in the subsectors of manufacturing industry as well. Özet

Hâlihazırda Türkiyede sanayi sektörü, gerek milli gelire ve gerekse oluşturduğu istihdam bakımından genel ekonominin temel araçlarından biri olma niteliği taşımaktadır. Cumhuriyetin ilanıyla birlikte hız kazanan sanayileşme faaliyetleri, uzun süre sadece belirli merkezlerde kümelenme şeklinde gerçekleşmiştir. Sonraki yıllarda daha fazla sayıda merkezin bu sürece dâhil edilmesi çabası, sanayinin yurt sathına yayılmasına zemin hazırlamıştır. Bu çalışmada Sanayi faaliyetlerini Adıyaman ili özelinde irdelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu çerçevede İlde imalat sanayinin gelişimi ve mevcut yapısı Sanayi ve Ticaret İl Müdürlüğü verileri esas alınarak değerlendirilmiştir. Sanayileşme sürecine oldukça geç katılmış illerden biri olan Adıyamanda, 1980li yıllara kadar birkaç kamu işletmesi dışında fabrika tipi sanayi mevcut değilken, bu dönemden itibaren gerçekleştirilen teşviklerle imalat sanayi işletmelerinde belirgin bir artış sağlanmaya başlanmıştır. Nitekim 1955 yılında pamuklu ve çırçır fabrikasının açılmasıyla başlayan imalat sanayi sektöründe işletme sayısı; 1994 yılında 28e, 1998de 91e, 2001 yılında 98e, 2006 yılında 146ya, 2008 yılında 225e ve nihayet 2011 yılında 259a yükselmiştir. Belirtilen süreçte sadece işletme sayılarında değil buna paralel olarak istihdam miktarında da önemli bir artış meydana gelmiştir. Bu çerçevede 1994 yılında 3192 kişi olan imalat sanayi sektörü istihdamı, 2001 yılında 5124e, 2006da 7222ye, 2008de 9876ya ve 2011 yılında ise 10633e yükselmiştir. 1950 sonrası Adıyaman imalat sanayinde işletmelerin faaliyet kollarında da belirgin değişmeler meydana gelmiş, 1990lı yılların sonlarına kadar, başta gıda sanayi olmak üzere tarıma dayalı sanayi işletmeleri yoğunlukla yer alırken, bu dönemden itibaren tekstil imalat kolu öne çıkmaya başlamıştır.
