Abstract
This study examines the types of women as represented in the Turkish lyrical folk songs in relation to their positions, emotional attitudes and types of behavior. The analysis reveals seven types of women. Based on these types, the study discusses their relationship with the cultural reality they experience. When supported with larger data, the findings of this pilot study might lead to a more comprehensive and explanatory typology of the women in our culture
