Shadow Archetypes in Various Variants of the Story of Tahir and Zuhre

Abstract

Archetypes as the reflections of the collective unconscious are apparent in different forms in literary works. In this context, Anima, animus, persona, mother, shadow and wise old man are the best known archetypes. The shadow archetype is one of the most important components of Carl Gustav Jung’s collective unconscious theory. The shadow is the primary ego suppressed to unconscious since it is not well received by the society and civilization. The shadow image is often found in the public narratives, the living social memories. One of the artistic creation that include this archetype is the folk stories. In this work, The folk tale “ Tahir and Zuhre”, transmitted through generations with many versions in the wide geographical region inhabited by Turks is examined with regard to shadow archetypes through Yazma (Writing), Asik Behçet Mahir Anlatması (Narration), Tobol and Bulgaria versions.

Özet

Toplumun ortak bilinçdışının yansıması olarak arketipler, edebi eserlerde farklışekillerde ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu çerçevede en çok adı anılan arketipler; anima, animus,anne, gölge, yüce birey ve persona arketipleridir. Gölge arketipi, Carl Gustav Jung’un ortakbilinçdışı kuramında yer alan önemli arketipler arasındadır. Gölge, toplum ve medeniyettarafından hoş karşılanmadığı için bilinçaltına itilen ilk benliktir. Gölge imgesi toplumsalbelleğin canlı ürünleri olan halk anlatılarında sıkça kendine yer bulmaktadır. Gölgearketipine yer veren sanatsal ürünlerden biri de halk hikâyeleridir.Çalışmada; Anadolu’nun yanı sıra Türklerin yaşadığı geniş coğrafyada birçok varyantı olanve nesilden nesile aktarılarak günümüze kadar ulaşan Tahir ile Zühre Hikâyesi, Yazma,Âşık Behçet Mahir Anlatması, Tobol ve Bulgaristan varyantı üzerinden gölge arketipibağlamında incelenmektedir.
