Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study is to present the indication, contraindication, side effects and complications of commonly used local anaesthetics and knowledge, manner and attitude of the practicing physicians towards local anaesthetics. Material and Methods: The questionnaires were applied on 141 of 251 physicians who were presumably using local anaesthetics in their practice. Results: Physicians have come from 17 different specialties. Research workers (55 %), specialists from different disciplines (42.9 %) and general practitioners (2.1 %) have participated in the study. Only 34.3 % of the participants have declared that they were trained in local anaesthetic applications. Although the anaesthetists composed the greatest part of the group who had been aware of that type of therapy, none of them had used it. Among the anaesthetists, the number of physicians trained in the application of local anaesthetics were statistically significantly higher (59.3 %) (p=0,01) than the specialists of other disciplines. Twenty -nine of the participants (20.7 %) who responded to questionnaires had declared that they had encountered local anaesthetic toxicity. The incidence of local anaesthetic toxicity and usage of non- lipid treatment modalities were found to be significantly higher in the anaesthetist group than the other specialties (p
Katılımcıların % 55’i asistan, % 42,9’u uzman, % 2,1’i pratisyendi.
