Abstract

ELECTRONEMICROSCOPIC EVALUATION OF EFFECTS OF THEOPHYLLINE AND STEROIDS IN SENSITIZED GUINEA PIGS This study's aim is to examine effects of theophylline in guinea pigs which were sensitized by ovalbumin. Effects of steroids ı theophylline have been compared separately, by electron and light microscope. While significant change and inflammation have been determined on bronchial epithelium of sensitized and untreated gro Significant improvement of surface epithelium and decrease of inflammation have been observed in groubs which were treated theophylline and steroids. Our animal study has confirmed that theophylline is pharmacologic agent having antiinflammatory effects in asthma. Key words: Theophylline, antiinflammatory effects, sensitized Guinea Pigs.

Özet

Ovalbümin ile sensitize edip astım modeli oluşturduğumuz kobaylarda teofilinin etkisini elektronmikroskobik olarak inceler amaçladık. Işık mikroskobu ve elektronmikroskopla bronş epitelindeki değişiklikleri; sensitize grupta, teofilin ve steroid ve gruplarda ayrı ayrı kıyasladık. Tedavi verilmeyen sensitize grupta ışık ve elektron mikroskobisi ile bronş epitelinde belirgin bozulma ve inflamasyon tesbit edeı gerek teofilin gerekse steroid verdiğimiz gruplarda broş epitelinde hücre düzeyinde düzelme ve enflamasyonda azalma gözledik; Teofilinin; astımda antienflamatuar etkiye sahip bir farmakolojik ajan olduğu yolundaki yoruma hayvan deneyi ile doğrul; getirdik.
