Abstract

In our study, it was searched that whether there is a difference in serum values of sodium, potassium and chloride before and after an antituberculous treatment of fifty male patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis. Also the clinical value of these data was inspected. Before the treatment there were 19 patients (%38) having hyponatremia, 12 patients (%24) having hypochloremia and 4 patients (% 8) having hyperkalemia after a one month antituberculous treatment, the increase of the values of sodium and chlor was found statistically valuable (p< 0.05). The statistically value of decrease which was marked in patients with higher potassium levels was not established (p= 0.1441). The clinical meaning of these differences in serum electrolites is that they are asymptomatic and do not require a therapy except antituberculous therapy.
