Abstract

Development of The Gossip and Rumor Attitude Scale Purpose: This study was carried out in order to develop a scale to determine the attitudes of people about gossip and rumors. Methods: The data were collected by draft scale form which was created and presented by the researcher to the expert opinion. The sampling was created with 572 volunteers. It consisted of four subscales and 88 items. Results: In this study it was focused on “Is the scale that was developed for determining the attitudes of gossip and rumors valid and reliable?”. According to the results of the analysis, 27 items were eliminated because of content validity indexes were under .80, item-total point correlations were under .30 and factor burdens were under .30 and a total of 61 items remained back. The scale was designed in four subscaled structure (identification causes, effects and reactions), and its content validity indexes were between .83-1.0, factor burdens were between .30-.84, item-total point correlations were between .39-.83 and inner coherence of subscales were between .77-.90. Conclusions: For the gossip and rumor attitude scale, four subscaled structure was predicted, and it was confirmed. The scale is compatible with desirable level in all subscales, reliable in identification subscale, and high degree of reliable in the other subscales.

Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışma, kişilerin dedikodu ve söylentiye ilişkin tutumlarını belirlemeye yönelik bir ölçme aracı geliştirme amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yöntem: Verilerin toplanmasında, araştırmacı tarafından uzman görüşleri doğrultusunda oluşturulan dört alt boyutlu (tanılama, nedenler, etkilenme ve tepkiler) 88 maddelik taslak ölçek 572 gönüllü hemşireye uygulanmıştır. Bulgular: “Dedikodu ve söylenti tutumunu belirlemek için geliştirilen ölçek geçerli ve güvenir bir araç mıdır?” sorusuna yanıt arayan çalışmada, kapsam geçerlik indeksi .80’nin, madde toplam puan korelasyon değeri .30’un, faktör yükü .30’un altında olan 27 madde elenerek madde sayısı 61’e düşürülmüştür. Yapılan analizler sonucunda ifadelerin kapsam geçerlik indeksinin .83-100, faktör yüklerinin .30-.84, madde toplam puan korelasyonlarının .39-.83, alt boyutlara ait iç tutarlılık katsayılarının .77-.90 arasında değiştiği bulunmuştur. Sonuçlar: Çalışma sonucunda “Dedikodu ve Söylenti Tutumu Ölçeği”nin öngörülen dört alt boyutlu yapısı doğrulanmıştır. Ölçek, alt boyutların tümünde istendik düzeyde uyumlu, tanılama alt boyutunda güvenilir, diğer alt boyutlarda ise yüksek derecede güvenilir bir ölçme aracıdır.
