Abstract
This investigation was designed to improve the fire-resistance properties of polyethlene glycole (PEG-400) and somewater repellent solutions used to improve the flammability properties of wood. For this reason, samples from Scotch pine wood were impregnated according to ASTM-D 1413-76 boric acid, borax, sodium perbo-rate diluted or dissolved in PEG-400 were used as a preservative materials, and paraffin, styrene, methylmethacrylate and wax wereused as a water repellent materials. It was found that, compounds contained boron increased the water resistance properties and water repellents materials resulted inthe same decreasing the flammability behavior of wood.
