Taiwan Health System and Fighting the COVID 19 Pandemic

Abstract

Taiwan is one of the successful countries in terms of response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The measures against the COVID-19 pandemic in the country were initiated in December 2019. The health organization carried out with the Taiwan National Health Insurance System (NHI), which is designed to ensure that everyone has access to health care services fairly for 25 years and that the payments made to receive health care can be easily paid by the citizens, is quite inclusive and successful. The strong epidemiological infrastructure created by the country after its past experiences of infectious diseases was also effective in its rapid and accurate response to the pandemic. In this review, Taiwan’s brief political history, the history of the health system and its current situation, the country’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the first 18 months will be discussed.

Tayvan, COVID-19 pandemisine yanıt açısından başarılı örneklerden biridir. Ülkede COVID-19 pandemisine yönelik önleme çalışmaları Aralık 2019’da başlatılmıştır. Herkesin sağlık hizmetine 25 yıldır adil bir şekilde ulaşabilmesi ve sağlık hizmeti almak için yapılan ödemelerin vatandaşlar tarafından rahatça ödenebilmesi üzerine kurgulanmış Tayvan Ulusal Sağlık Sigortası Sistemi (NHI) ile yürütülen sağlık örgütlenmesi oldukça kapsayıcı ve başarılıdır. Ülkenin geçmiş bulaşıcı hastalık deneyimleri sonrası oluşturduğu güçlü epidemiyolojik alt yapısı da salgına hızlı ve doğru yanıt vermesinde etkili olmuştur. Bu derlemede Tayvan’ın kısa siyasi tarihi, sağlık sisteminin tarihçesi ve güncel durumu, ülkenin ilk 18 aylık süreçte COVID-19 pandemisiyle mücadelesi ele alınacaktır.
