ACTIVITIES AND ORGANIZATION OF FREE REPUBLIC PARTY IN KUTAHYA

Abstract

This article examinesthe organization of the Free Republic Party in Kutahya and the 1930 municipal elections. It arguesthat although SCF was not successful in the elections, its effective opposition forced the Republican Public Party (RPP) government to question its existing policies. Despite all the developmentsthe RPP won the municipality elections by far. The government party prepared reports on the groups supporting the opposition party and emphasized the problems of the region since they wore away even they won the elections. After this effective opposition, in order to bridge the gap between the centre and the region and improve economic conditions, the RPP initiated state investments in Kutahya and its vicinity. Furthermore,the RPP initiated cultural investments such as People s Houses and People s Rooms.

Özet

Bu çalışma Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkasının (SCF) Kütahya Vilayetinde teşkilatlanması ve 1930 yılı belediye seçimlerini inceleyerek, SCFnın Kütahyada başarılı olamasa da etkin muhalefeti ile CHF iktidarının kendisini sorgulamasına sebep olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bütün yaşanan gelişmelere rağmen belediye seçimini CHF açık ara önde tamamladı. Seçimlerden sonra iktidar fırkası seçimleri kazanmasına rağmen yıprandığı için Kütahyada muhalefeti destekleyen kesimlerle ilgiliraporlar hazırlatarak bölgenin sorunları üzerinde duruldu. Bu etkin muhalefet sonucu CHF merkez ile taşra arasındaki kopukluğu gidermek için Kütahya ve çevresine önemli yatırımlar başlatarak ekonomide ortaya çıkan eksiklikleri gidermeye çalışmış ayrıca Halkevleri ve Halkodası gibi kültürel yatırımlarla da halk ile arasındaki kopukluğu gidermeye çalışmıştır.
