A comparison of growth performance,carcass and body composition of oreochromis aureus, O. niloticus and their hybrids in concrete ponds in Çukurova region (Türkiye)

Abstract

In this research; the growth performance, carcass and body composition of two tilapia species (Oreochromis aureus and O. niloticus) and their hybrids (O. aureus Sand O. niloticus $female$ ) were examined. O.niloticus, O.aureus and their hybrids (80% males) reached 90.62±0.18g, 105.34±0.06 g, 135.5±1.93 g, respectively, at the end of a 120 day culture period in the subtropical conditions of Çukurova region (Türkiye). The results showed that edible proportion of the carcass of O.aureus, O.niloticus and their hybrids were %57.83±0.4, %57.00±0.14 and %59.4±0.12, respectively. Edible proportion of hybrids carcass were significantly higher than the others. Protein content of the carcass of .O.niloticus, O.aureus and their hybrids were %18.76±0.2, %18.38±0.02 and %18.29±0.18 respectively. There was no significant difference among the crude protein level of the groups. Fat content of the carcass of O.niloticus O.aureus and their hybrids were %10.8±0.23, %10.61±0.16 and %12.25±0.21, respectively. Bu araştırmada Oreochromis aureus erkekleri ile Oreochromis niloticus dişileri ciftleştirilerek elde edilen, %80'i erkek olan melez yavrular ebeveyn grupların saf yavruları ile karşılaştırmalı olarak yetiştirilmiştir. Denemede 3 g'lık yavrular kullanılmış ve deneme 120 gün sürmüştür. Bu süre sonunda melez yavrular 135,5±1,93 g, O. aureus yavruları 105,34± 0,06 g, O niloticus yavruları ise 90,62+0,18 g canlı ağırlığa ulaşmışlardır (P
