Abstract
Objective: Warm-up is an important factor in all sports activities and affects performance positively or negatively depending on its type of application. In recent years, research on respiratory muscle warm-up exercises, especially in sports performance has increased. In this study, it was aimed to examine the acute effects of different respiratory muscle warm-up exercises on maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) and lung functions. Materials and Methods: 23 volunteer male active referees between the ages of 18-25 participated in the study. Three different respiratory muscle warm-ups, including deviced respiratory muscle warm-up, diaphragmatic respiratory muscle warm-up, and placebo, were performed on different days, and VO2max values were determined with the Astrand Cycling Ergometer Test, and respiratory parameters were measured with a spirometer. The normality of the data was determined by the Shapiro Wilk test, and the Kruskal Wallis H test was used to determine cause of the difference between applications. Results: At the level of respiratory parameters and VO2max, deviced respiratory muscle warm-up was found to be significantly higher than placebo and diaphragmatic respiratory muscle warm-up (p
